Protect Your Brand from Scams

Everybody is Kungfu scamming. Hoo. Ha.

The colleague that I eat lunch with is obsessed with Prawn Mee. I mean, who wouldn’t be? I’m just as guilty as him when it comes to this delicious dish. It’s a deep-seated obsession. We try to have it at least once or twice a week.

Delicious, umami prawn heads that you can slurp. Heady broth that warms the cockles of your heart. Fresh, sweet prawns that have a meaty bite to them. Pork ribs with just the right amount of fat. My favourite is Kway Tiao and the Yellow Noodles – one soft, the other slightly firmer for that contrasting texture.

Tasty.

In line with that, all of my other colleagues have gathered to share their favourite jaunts for prawn mee. On the lucky occasion that anyone of us drives, we’d go out for Prawn Mee without fail.

Beach Road, Fei Zai, Albert Street, Whitley Road, River South (Hoe Nam), Geylang Prawn Noodle. We’ve done the Tour de Singapore for all these places, but our recent favourite (introduced by See Tho) is Geylang Prawn Noodle.

Sorry. I’m rambling. I have a point. I’ll make it soon.

By the way. Notice how these amazing Prawn Mee places are all mostly located in the east side? East side, best side. Heh. I love the East Side. Best food places ever in Singapore, and nothing you say can change my mind about it. Could wax lyrical about the east side all day.

Anyways, the point that I’m trying to make is that I don’t carry cash on me. In this day and age, who even does that? The only people who carry cash in my office consists of the older generation, namely Clement, See Tho, and Boss.

It hurts my heart terribly whenever I get to the front of the queue and order, only to be told that the place accepts cash. Paying is so convenient these days – especially through applications like PayLah and PayNow. Even Shopee and Grab have hopped on the e-Payment services.

It’s so incredibly convenient that some buggers have found a way to scam merchants by faking their payment screens.

Stop Cheating Honest People

Why would people even do that?

Seriously. Those people that do it, if y’all are reading this, y’all need to stop. Have a modicum of decency and just think about hawkers slogging their asses off from morning to afternoon to feed you a bowl of delicious, heartwarming food for a significantly low price and just stop.

It’s affecting the honest folk who rely heavily on transfers, because whenever I transfer money to Geylang Prawn Noodle via PayLah, the relatively young dude peers at the screen for quite a long time to ensure that I’m not doing anything untoward.

And if the relatively young are already so wary, what more of the older folk?

It’s no secret that they’re technologically challenged. The three older men in my office who carry around cash are perfect examples of that.

It’s really no surprise that the older hawkers are hesitant to leverage on cashless payments when this happens. Think about the impact on their business. They might lose out on the business of customers who don’t carry cash. I’ve had to apologetically cancel my order once or twice because I don’t carry cash.

So. Seriously. Stop.
